Technique Time!

This Preparatory Book of exercises is much like the Mini Book (which I reviewed here).  There are five groups of a dozen exercises to practice each day before practicing.  The exercises should be learned a few at a time until the entire group is learned, then the student is ready to move on to the next group.

You can look inside here.  I found some videos of people playing these exercises here.

This book includes:
quarter notes, eighth notes, staccato, contrary motion, triads, left hand cross over, L.H. Octave leaps, scale fingering (cross thumb under), right hand jumping to bass clef, grace notes, holding a note while playing others in the same hand, I and (two note and three note) V7 chords, eighth note triplets, slur ending in staccato, harmonic thirds and seconds, quarter note triplets, major and minor feel, chromatic fingering.

The last group begins to have patterns in sequence in major keys, using accidentals, the first 4 are like that.

The last exercise in each group has words that celebrate being able to play piano.

These exercises would be great for the Mid-Elementary student.  I know in the method I use, this would be a student in late level 1 or beginning level 2.

This is available at Sheet Music Plus for $3.99.
