Classics For Everyone Book 2B

ChordTime Piano Classics put out by Hal Leonard corresponds to Faber's Piano Adventures Level 2B.  These classical themes are memorable, familiar, and well arranged.

You will find:
In the Key of C
Schubert's March Militaire
Haydn's Theme from Trumpet Concerto in Eb
Haydn's Theme from the Surprise Symphony
Tchaikovsky's Trepak (Russian Dance from the ballet, The Nutcracker)
Dvorak's Largo (from Symphony No. 5, "From the New World")
Strauss' Pizzicato Polka
In the Key of G
Strauss's Laughing Song
Bach's Aria (from the Peasant Cantata)
Humperdinck's Little Man in the Woods (from Hansel and Gretel)
Verdi's La Donna e Mobile (from the opera, Rigoletto)
Beethoven's Rage Over the Lost Penny
In the Key of F
Borodin's Polovetzian Dance No. 17 (from the opera, Prince Igor)
Rossini's Overture (from the opera, William Tell)
Strauss's Roses from the South

At the end of the book, you will also find a dictionary of classical  terms, such as Aria, ballet, overture, and waltz.  Next is a music dictionary defining music symbols found in the pieces.  (More on that below.)

Quick Look:
Keys of C, G, & F
p, mp, mf, f, crescendo, diminuendo
eighth note triplet, eighth note, quarter note, half note, dotted half, whole note, corresponding rests.
Accent, accidentals, a tempo, fermata, 1st and 2nd endings, molto, ottava, pedal marking, pedal change, ritard, sforzando, similie, slur, staccato, triplet, I, IV, V7 chords

These songs have both hands playing at the same time, sometime sharing the melody, but often with melody and accompaniment.   This accompaniment is often limited to using only the I, IV, and V7 chords as is covered in the corresponding lesson books.  If the students are familiar with those chords in the keys of C, G, & F, these pieces will be more accessible to them.
