Black Keys, Racing down the tracks!

The Black Key Express by W.T. Skye Garcia is a fun piece about a train.

Part of the fun of this piece is that is played mostly on the black keys.  Students may have some "key signature shock" because it's written in 6 sharps.  (You can look inside here.)  The piece is intermediate, and it lives up to those expectations.  However, there are only a few variations in the left hand eighth note pattern.  The upward 4-eighth-note figure gives the feeling of the rumble of a train.  It's a fun, quick little piece.

Quick Look:
Key: F#
Note Values: eighth, quarter, dotted quarter, half, dotted half, whole notes and corresponding rests
f, mf, mp, p, crescendo, diminuendo
accidentals, accents, ties, slur, 8va,
