On Old Broadway

This Dozen A Day Mini Songbook is a great companion to the Dozen a Day Mini Exercise Book.  It can also be used on its own.

Carolyn Miller has arranged some Broadway, Movie, and Popular Hits, arranging two songs for use after the student has accomplished each of the five groups in the Mini Book.  Each song also has an optional teacher duet.  You can look inside here.

In this book you will find:
Love Me Tender
Lean On Me
Can You Feel The Love Tonight
Heigh Ho
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man
It's a Grand Night for Singing
You'll Never Walk Alone
A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart makes
Any Dream Will Do
So Long, Farewell

This book utilizes the skills taught in the Mini Exercise book including: slurs, ties, staccato, left hand cross over, triad, stretched hands, octave leap, finger changes on repeated notes, left hand cross over, and silent finger changes.

These songs are only two pages in the beginning, and share the melody between the hands.  There are times where there are more than one note played at a time, but that is only in one hand or notes while the melody is sustained.  Popeye has one part where the left hand moves, otherwise these songs remain in Middle C position for the first several pieces.  Beginning with the 5th and 6th song, there are more finger movements, on repeated notes, as well as on subsequent notes.  The last two songs include eighth notes, and a fair amount of movement in the left hand.
