An intermezzo is generally placed between two things, like acts of a play, or parts of an opera. This Intermezzo by Mary Leaf is a lovely piece that brings to mind warm weather and happy days.
This piece is a fairly recent piece, copyrighted in 2012, so I cannot find any videos for it. However, it is a fresh, new piece. The flowing melody is smoothed by the pedal. The phrases alternate between quarter note and eighth notes and then half notes in the A section. The B section is full of arpeggiated chords spanning both hands. After this, the piece returns to the A section. The A section phrases are abab1 the first time. The section A section is much the same, except b1 is elongated to conclude the piece.
